Lauv

After releasing his first EP in 2015, which featured the song “The Other” that went viral, Lauv was undoubtably one of the most exciting emerging artists out there. In 2017 as Lauv was gearing up for the release of his first album, he pre-released the song “I Like Me Better” along with a new logo, symbol and art direction. The branding was carried out in close relationship with the artist himself who had already spent much time thinking on how he wanted to look & feel.
The logotype drew inspiration from Lauv’s Latvian heritage combined with the timelessness and simplicity of the NASA branding. The V can be extracted to resemble an abstract lions head (Lauv, Latvian for ‘lion’) or symbolize V for vulnerability, a word that Lauv feels deeply connected with. Fast forward to 2021 and Lauv is now one of the biggest pop artists in the world with over 20 million monthly listerners on Spotify.
